Half-craft and half-artistry, the skill of composition is something photographers study and develop throughout their shooting lives. In this workshop you’ll get the chance to learn and practice new composition ideas while also getting one-on-one feedback to help you build on the compositional knowledge you already have. With San Francisco’s mix of urban and natural beauty, it’s an ideal location for practicing everything from thoughtful landscape composition to shoot-from-the-hip street photography composition. Because a thoughtful assessment of an image is the only way to know if your compositional skills are working, this workshop will also feature two group critique sessions. More than just a review of images, these sessions will serve as a chance to delve into the vocabulary of critique and discuss how to engage with this essential process in a healthy, productive way.
